DVD About Blogging for Profit

How to Get Traffic

How to Make Money with a Blog

Good content on a consistent basis is a must for making money blogging. A new post each day works best, but three days a week is the least amount of posts needed to gain a readership. The posts can vary in length, short and long. The idea, or theme could carried over to the next writeup.

Amount Per Month: Problogger

According to Problogger, the amount per month people made in 2008 from their own blog ranged from less than $10.00 to $20,000 or more. His pie chart of 2012 shows that amongst his readers that blog, 17% make from $100.00 to $499.00 per month, and 7% make from $500.00 to $999.00. Many of his readers make less and some more.

Some people that make huge profits from blogging also have a website like, which makes over 3 million dollars a year, according to While we may aspire to making that much money blogging, it seems it takes a website with a good product to accomplish that goal, along with the blog.

Blog Traffic

Every blog needs traffic to build readership and to make money. Comment on other blogs that are interesting and entice readers to your blog. Use an RSS feed to syndicate your blog. This helps your regular readers know when the blog is updated and keeps them reading.

Traffic Sources

  • Ping the blog

  • Add to search engines once a month

  • Add blog to many blog directories

  • Write articles and link to the blog

  • Join many Social Networking sites

Successful Blogger

A blog that has a higher number of visitors each day might get invited to join BlogAds. A blogger that is a member can invite other bloggers. Good quality posts count because the blog with better content gets paid more for the ads.

Pay per impression ads pay the blogger every time the ad shows up on the page. Text link ads appear in a post that's related to the product. Impression based ads are another income source.

Clickbank Income

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is another way to make money blogging. Some of the affiliate marketing sites are Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction, FlexOffers, and Linkshare.

To find affiliate programs for a certain niche search the niche. For example, searching for music affiliate programs found 43, 700, 000 results. These include iTunes and Virtual Sheet Music. Narrowing down the topic to musical instruments returns 2, 470, 000 sites. These include Musicians Friend and Rayburn Music.

When deciding on an affiliate program that suits your blog's topic, make sure to join programs that offer at least 15% commission. Some offer less and others more. Obviously, the higher the commission the more you make on a sale.

When looking for affiliate programs find out if the program you're interested in is reputable, pays affiliates regularly, and if it offers the customer a money back guarantee.

Freelance Blogging

If you are blogging as a freelancer for someone else, the pay range is generally from $120.00 per month to $1000 per month. The income may be from a flat rate or a combination of base pay, paid reviews or per page views.

To find these gigs go to sites like Guru, Elance, iFreelance, freelancewritinggigs, Craigslist, and Blogger.

Making money with your blog is a job to be worked at with frequent blogging, blog promotion, and monetization of the blog.

I'm always so amazed by how much POF makes, though I'm sure their hosting costs are high--last I read, he had like one employee or something, so even if half their money goes to expenses... That's still a mighty big profit! Thanks for the enticing article on blogging for money.

I so need this information. It serves as a pep talk for me. I know one hubber doing - I didn't know about the other sites. This is good because I can do both - some freelance blogging for others and (finally) finish my own blog.

      Good information here. Thank you!
