Huawei Honor 6X vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
2017 is predicted to be great for smartphones. The commencement of the year itself has witnesses two hi-end mobile launches - the Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 and Huawei Honor 6X. Both the phones offer awesome specs and features while giving a tough battle to each other at a pretty similar price tag. The Redmi Note 4 is available for starting at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. Honor 6X offers a price of Rs 12,999 for the 3GB RAM and Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. So, here is an in-depth comparison of the newly launched Redmi Note 4 and the Honor 6X. Note that we have taken the 4GB + 64GB variant in both the cases for comparison.
Design & Display
Although both the mobiles are crafted from aluminum, they differ in the way they are designed. The Redmi Note 4 comes with a slightly curved back and flat edges making it comfortable to hold in hand. The Honor 6X curves around the edges which makes it look bit smaller due to the curves.
The front of both the devices features a top notch 5.5-inch screen with 2.5D IPS LCD display and 1920 x 1080p resolution. The Redmi Note 4 comes with three capacitive touch buttons below the screen, while the Honor 6X offers on screen buttons.
Both are fingerprint scanner mobiles and come with the similar button placement design. However, the Honor’s unlocking is much faster as compared to the Redmi Note 4. Another highlight of the Honor 6X is the dual-camera which will turn heads. The Honor 6X measures at 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs at 162g while the Redmi Note 4 measures 151 x 76 x 8.5 mm and is somewhat weighty at 165g.
Performance and Memory
Under the hood, both the smartphones feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Redmi Note 4 is powered by a 2.0GHz 64-bit Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU.
On the other hand, we get Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 655 Octa-Core processor clocked at 2.1 GHz along with Mali-T830MP2 in Honor 6X.
Looking at the above specs, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is much more power efficient as compared to the Honor 6X. However, the Note 4 lacks in terms of overall performance. Again a downside of the Honor 6X is the graphics. The GPU renders the games pretty well but when compared to Adreno 506, the graphics does lack a little bit of detailing.
Otherwise, both the smartphones possess an absolute pleasurable user interface. Thanks to the whopping 4GB RAM that offers highest multi-tasking without lags or hiccups. Both the phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Android 7.0 Nougat update is expected soon. The Redmi Note 4 comes with MIUI 8 on top while Honor 6X runs on EMUI 4.1 skin. Also, the internal storage on both the devices is expandable via microSD card slot which sits inside a hybrid Dual SIM tray.
The camera is one of the USP's of the Honor 6X mobile. The phone offers dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor along with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), LED flash etc. The phone houses a 8-megapixel sensor for selfies.
The Redmi Note 4 on the other hand comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera f/2.0, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing camera.
Although Redmi Note 4 captures decent photos in good lighting conditions, the smartphone struggles when compared to the Honor 6X. Honor 6X wins in this department and is just better in our opinion.
Battery, Connectivity and Audio
While the camera is Honor 6X’s forte, battery is where Redmi Note 4 stands tall. The Redmi Note 4 offers a big battery of 4100 mAh. The Snapdragon 625 on Redmi Note 4 aids to increase the battery efficiency capabilities further.
On the other hand, the Honor 6X is packed with a 3340 mAh battery which is no way bad. The SOT (Screen On Time) on the Honor 6X ranges between 5.5 hours to 6 hours, whereas the Redmi offered a SOT of 10 hours.
Both the smartphones offer Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS with A-GPS, Infrared Blaster, Micro USB 2.0 connectivity options. The audio performance on both the devices is pretty is also good. The audio output from speakers on both the devices are adequately loud but with a bit average sound quality.
Both the smartphones have their own pros and cons. However, one thing which is apparently in favor of the Redmi Note 4 is the price.
The 4GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 4 is priced at Rs 12,999 whereas the 4GB RAM variant of the Honor 6X is priced at Rs 15,999.
If price is not your concern, pick the Honor 6X for a better camera. Whereas if you can compromise on the camera for some insane battery life, Redmi Note 4 is for you.
