"I Can't Remember my Gmail Username!"
So you finally decided to log in and check that email account you created months ago, when your friend finally convinced you to sign up for Gmail. But you realize when you get to the sign in page, you don't even know your username!
What should you do?
The first place to go if you have forgotten your username is to the Google Accounts page. You are asked to enter the secondary email address you provided at registration, as well as your name, and you are able to retrieve your username with that information. Google will send an email with your username to your alternate address. Once you have received the email, you will be able to go back to Google and reset your password with the username.
There is also an option to enter your phone number, if you happened to use that information when you created the account.
Hopefully that is all it takes for you to update your password to your account and for you to begin to enjoy the Google experience!
But what if I didn't enter an alternate email?
If you didn't enter a secondary email address, then things become tricky! The first thing would be to track down a friend or colleague you have sent an email to - they can give you your email address and that will be your username. You can use that to access your account, and recover your password if necessary, following the process listed above. Hopefully you were able to email someone before forgetting your username!
If you haven't sent any emails, then don't worry about it too much and just sign up for another account. And this time - write it down, send an email immediately to a friend, and enter an alternate email address as a backup. There is also the possibility that you may find out your username as you attempt to create your new account and it tells you the username is already in use.
By taking these steps you should hopefully never have to visit this hub again!
Good luck! Let us know how it works out!
