Is Facebook really shutting down this March 15?

Updated on January 31, 2011

I know a lot of people are also asking this and honestly, the very first time I heard this from a friend, I was really surprised since I never imagined that this thing is possible and all I can think off is that, this is just hearsay and there is no truth to it. Not to mention, Facebook is the number one social networking site and if I'm not mistaken, has more or less 500 million members around the world.

So, out of curiosity, I immediately researched about it and I've finally found the answer of this very controversial question that undoubtedly, the same question of millions of its members around the world.

This rumor started when the site, WeeklyWorldNews.com, published an article last January 9 with "Facebook will end on March 15", as the title of the article. It was stated there that Mark Zuckerberg, a 26 year old founder and CEO of Facebook was so stressed-out in managing the multi-million company. According to him, his life was ruined due to managing the company and all he wants is to bring back his old life.

I know most of us, most especially those who are so active on the site which usually spend almost 5 hours or beyond on Facebook, and who learned to love the site are in shocked or would be unhappy if they will be shutting down by March 15, to be exact. I must say, I also like the site and as a matter of fact, through Facebook, I found my long lost friends from elementary and highschool that I’ve been looking for such a very long time already, the same reason why most people also love the site.

However, according to some reports, there's no truth to what is spreading on the internet right now. So, there’s nothing to worry about.

Well, for those who are not yet convinced, all we have to do is just to wait and see until March 15, the most controversial and the most anticipated date ever this 2011.

I don't think it will shut down. It's money machine now, I doubt the owner would let it go easily.
