Booq Mamba Laptop Saddle Bag Review

Updated on September 30, 2015

The Booq Mamba Laptop Saddle Bag is a bag that just appeals to the sense of simple organization. Other laptop bags that carry as much as this one, is typically heavy, bulky and overall not too appealing. This Saddle Bag however is none of those things.

First of all the outside fabric is simple. All one color (black, red, blue or brown) and no flaps to hang open so the overall line of the bag is very smooth. No matter what you are wearing this bag rides smoothly as you walk. The fabric is water-repellant so you no longer have to worry when dashing through a rainstorm. There are several zippers and each one is a heavy duty YKK.

The pockets of the Booq Mamba are well thought out. You will be amazed at how many there are and how well each accommodates most anything that you decide to carry along. The liner fabric is a vibrant color, which makes it even easier to see what is inside.

There are four outside pockets. Two are small and are located one on each side. Again, these pockets are closed with a zipper but they are very easily accessed. They are large enough for a cell phone, MP3 player, PDA and other small incidentals. The third and fourth pockets are located one on the back and one on the front of the bag and are open at the top – great for keeping tickets or a small book at your fingertips.

My favorite feature is the way the bag opens. A long heavy-duty zipper wraps from the bottom of the Booq Mamba all the way up one side, across the top and down the other side. When unzipped the entire bag opens up to full view. The divided pockets open as the top flap lays back. Loading the bag is so easy and once it is loaded the contents are very easy to see and get to.

The laptop compartment is also unique. Most laptop bags are not specifically sized for any particular laptop. If yours is too small it can just swish around inside the bag. The Booq Mamba however includes two padded tube-like pieces that attach to the inside of the laptop compartment with Velcro that allow a laptop as small as 13 inches to fit snuggly inside. Remove those pieces and the laptop compartment immediately becomes large enough for a 15-inch laptop.

The strap is adjustable and has a movable shoulder pad for comfort. Speaking of comfort, most of the weight of this bag will be from the contents that you load into it.
