Lava E-Tab XTRON Review and Full Specifications

Updated on March 13, 2013

Lava Mobiles recently launched the new tablet in their range of tablets. It is called the E-Tab XTRON. The name is really one of a kind and this tablet packs in a lot of features that make it a sure hit in its price category. This tablet was launched so as to tackle the competition provided by Micromax and Karbonn whose tablets are selling like hot cakes in the market. Karbonn’s recently launched Velox and Cosmic as well as Micromax’s Infinity have performed really well. Here is a review of Karbonn Smart Tab 8 Velox, which I bought recently for my son. Now let’s review the XTRON.

Looks:

The tablet’s dimensions are 184 x 131 x 11.5 mm and it weighs 350 grams. The pack comes with the tablet, USB OTG cable, data cable, charger, lots of free goodies, headphones, warranty card and the user manual. The tablet has a front facing camera. On the right side we have the power button, volume rocker and the mini-USB port. On the top of the tablet we have the 3.5mm audio jack as well as the microSD slot. Behind we have the LAVA branding along with XTRON engraved in the aluminum casing.

My Rating

4 stars for Lava E-Tab XTRON

Hardware:

The tablet packs in some serious hardware for the price we are paying. It has a 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 dual-core processor. This is something I’ve not seen in any of the tabs in this price range. The only tab under Rs.7000, which I know, which has a dual core processor, is the WickedLeaks Wammy Desire. The Velox tab that I have also has a 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 dual-core processor. So I am guessing that these two tabs will perform almost equally well. E-Tab XTRON also has Quad Core GPU (Mali 400 3D and OPEN GL VE 2.0). This means that most of the HD games will work on this tab without any lags or hang-ups. What’s more? We even have 1 GB of DDR3 RAM which will make sure that you are never disappointed with the performance of this tab. The internal memory is huge. It has 8 GB of internal memory and it is expandable upto 32 GB.

Screen:

This is one of the best parts of this tab. Lava E-Tab XTRON comes with a 7-inch display It also has an IPS panel, which means that you will have great viewing angles. The resolution of the screen is 1024x600 and the pixel density is quite high. Viewing videos on this tab is just a great experience.

Camera:

There is nothing much to comment about the camera. It has a 2 megapixel front camera and that is it. There is nothing at the back. The performance of the front camera is average and it can only be used for video calls. But I am not disappointed because, the 3 megapixel camera of my Velox is worse than this. And how can I expect Ipad like quality for a sub 10K tablet.

Battery:

The Lava E-Tab XTRON has a good battery. It has a 3500 mAh battery. It won’t last you really long and you will most probably have to charge it once a day. My Karbonn Velox has a 4000 mAh battery and it needs to be charged every day.

My Verdict:

Some features are missing on the Lava E-Tab XTRON like bluetooth and HDMI. Keeping that apart I think this tab has a great future ahead of itself. I would recommend this tab to anyone looking to buy their first tab and I hoping that they won’t be disappointed. This tab runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and great features like the 1.5 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM make it a great buy. And don’t forget the quad-core GPU!
