MSN, or initially known as the Microsoft Network, is brand name used by Microsoft to promote popular web services such as Hotmail and Windows Messenger in the 1990s. However, in order for Microsoft to re-invent Hotmail and Windows Messenger to compete with other strong competitors such as Google, these services were later rebranded as Windows Live in 2005.
