Making Your Wordpress Blog Interactive

Updated on February 25, 2018

Wordpress Facebook Plugin

Facebook is huge. We all know that, heck even my grandma has a facebook account (even if she doesn't know how to use it). You need a way to easily integrate Facebook with your blog. There is a really easy wordpress plugin for that called Facebook connect.

All you need to do is go into your Wordpress admin, search plugins , click and install. This plugin literally takes 2 minutes to get up and running. When finished, it will allow users to login to your blog with their facebook account. Once logged in, they can easily like, comment and share your posts to all their friends.

If you have a facebook fan page, you can also auto post all your new content directly to the fan page, keeping your followers engaged.

Feedburner and Twitter

Google feedburner is an excellent tool for syndicating your content. Every blog has a feed, usually myblog.com/feed. I highly recommend converting this into a FeedBurner feed, and I will tell you why.

Feedburner is full of options. One of my favorites is the Twitter integration. You can specify a twitter account to which FeedBurner will automatically post to. Meaning whenever you make a new post, your feed updates, and that new post will show up instantly on your Twitter account. Gotta love instant gratification.

With Feedburner you can easily modify the look of your RSS feed. Also built in is many different readers from which a subscriber can choose from, with just a click of the mouse.

You may also monetize FeedBurner with targeted ads. It will also track your total subscribers and engagement.

Wordpress Forum Plugin

Forums are a great way for people to get together and chat on topics they are passionate about. Let's face it, everyone loves meeting people with similar interests, especially in niche topics. There are tons of forum software out there, but most require some technical savvy to install. Not this wordpress forum plugin I found.

Mingle forum is the plugin and it is a snap. Simple search for Mingle forum plugin, install and activate. Instructions are very simple to follow. You can customize the forum's look very easily. There is also an option to insert advertisements any place you want them to appear.

You can see this in action on my vinyl record forum .

Wordpress Sociable Plugin

Another fantastic wordpress plugin is the one they call 'Sociable'. This is a nifty plugin that allows the web surfer to post and share to numerous social bookmarking sites with a click of the mouse.

Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Dig, Delicious , and more that you probably don't even care about. Too many to list here. You pick which ones you want displayed and Sociable creates the cool little icons for the sites you want displayed at the bottom of each of your posts.

Conclusion

I hope some of these wordpress social media plugins are useful to you. They certainly helped me with my blogs. Being heard and making money on the internet is not an easy game to win, but at least there are some tools we can arm ourselves with . All these plugins are being used on my blog, vinyl record hub.
