My 12 Favorite Youtube Videos

Updated on April 30, 2012

Although I stay too busy to visit Youtube as much as I'd like, over the years I've discovered that a great many of the videos folks post there are a lot more entertaining than anything offered on television. Some of these videos have become classics in their own right over time, like the Charlie Bit My Finger video, the two babies talking in the kitchen video, the German boy rocking out to the Ozone song (also called Uuma Uuma) and the Charlie the Unicorn trilogy. These are wonderful videos all, but there are always gems waiting to be discovered you may not have heard of or seen yet. So I thought I'd post my favorite twelve here in case you, like me, enjoy Youtube, but haven't yet had a chance to see them.

Ten of my choices are all clean enough for anyone to view without much chance of anyone being offended and I will post them here. But two are on the "dirty" side so I will not embed these but only tell you about them at the end of this post So here you go, the ten nice ones first!

#1 News with Autumn and Wolfy

This one features two kids I just happen to have known all their lives: Autumn and Wolfy. Now these children were a little younger when this video was made and they have a few videos posted at Youtube. I love them all but this one is my very favorite and it was written and directed by their Dad :)

#2 Lord of the Rings parody

Like I said there are NO dirty ones posted here and this one is no exception. However, because it is utterly wholesome and yet sounds so darned dirty it cracks me up!

#3 Summer Eve's Hail to the V (extended version)

This video is the only one that is a professional commercial, but it is funny as heck and so made my list.

#4 The Mom Song

I don't know who this lady is, but she sure is talented! And the song -set to the tune of the William Tell Overture- details hilariously yet accurately the never-ending hard work it takes to be a Mom!

#5 Hinterland Tales: The Ant

This is one of a series of Hinterland Tales parody videos. Cute and darkly funny!

#7 Don't Wake Daddy (trailer parody)

If you've ever played the children's board game Don't Wake Daddy you'll appreciate this very humorous parody!

#8 Two talking cats

You may have seen this popular video already, and as these two sweethearts are my favorite animals at Youtube it made the list!

#9 How to make a Liberal Scare Tactics commercial

This video from Australia is another hilarious one, mainly I suspect because there is so much truth in it!

#10 video trailer for my Romance novel, The Story of Odette

Over the last few years I've had several video trailers made for the novels I write under my pen name. But this one is my very favorite, and I guess this is fitting because this novel happens to be the one I enjoyed writing the most :)

As promised there are two more videos that make my list but because of their content I will not embed them here. But to tell you a little about them:

HInterland Tales: Spiders on Drugs - there are two reason I won't embed this one - 1. although it is a documentary spoof there are a couple of references with ribald language, 2. it contains documentary footage of real spiders and I know some folks might be yeched-out on that. Still, it is soooo funny! This one can be watched at http://youtu.be/p2HipedgM3I

Big Bill Hell's - made in the 1980's this parody spoofs car dealership commercials. The content has a LOT of vulgarity but it is outrageously funny! ADULTS only visit to watch at http://youtu.be/4sZuN0xXWLc
