My Internet Relationship
My love affair with the Internet began in 1994 and hasn't wavered since. When I originally began using the internet it was to play on line games and learn the in's and out's of AOL. This became a new toy for myself and my two daughters. The company I worked for at the time wasn't computer literate so I basically learned on my own through trial and error. I self taught myself how to navigate the web, to " clean " the cache, utilize the card making program and other programs Microsoft provided with my operating system.
The operating system I first purchased and the operating I have now are light years apart. The changes to the computer industry has transformed life as we knew it. The majority of our communication is now handled on line via e-mail, instant messaging, facebook, twitter and other social networks. Even the company I work for uses the Internet to conduct about 95% of our workload. Being in customer service I am on the computer throughout the day. I process customer orders on our operating system, track orders, provide product information, provide on line tracking information.
Arriving home from work I turn on the computer, prepare supper, check my personal e-mails, checkout facebook and either complete or create hubs. Any shows I enjoy watching I DVR to watch at a later date, eat supper, read the newspaper on line then get back to my hubs. I love being able to locate old friends from high school, catching up with friends I made as a military wife, keeping up to date on the comings and goings of my family and friends. Sometimes I do take a break, watch a show or read a book in between my computer time.
I use the Internet for everything from paying bills, to Christmas Shopping, buying Birthday Presents, ordering concert tickets, making donations, locating shower gifts, Wedding Presents, locating the perfect flower arrangements, paying my rent, researching furniture, reading the newspaper, previews for Black Friday and the list just continues to grow. The internet has made my life so much easier and alleviated a lot of stress from my life. I can't imagine life without it, the internet is my friend! Kind of like Toby Keith and his red solo cup!
