Nokia: Some Unknown facts about it.

Updated on July 15, 2010

Nokia a Finnish multinational communication company is one the big guns in the cell phone manufacturing market. Nokia with its famous punch line" Connecting People”  is engaged in converging  internet and communications.  Most likely people possess Nokia mobiles after Samsung, T-Mobile and Iphone etc.

Here, I have compiled a list of some interesting facts, which you probably don’t know about the company:-

  • The famous "Nokia tune" was actually developed by a Spanish musician Francisco Tárrega in 19th century. He named it "Gran Vals". If you have some old nokia cell phone (of around 1998) then you can see the tune named as "Gran Vals”.
  • Nokia supplied the network for the world’s first commercial GSM call in 1991.
  • Nokia was on the 20th spot for the most admirable company worldwide in Fortune's list of 2006.
  • Nokia is sometimes called aikon (Nokia backwards),coz aikon is the most used SDK software packages, used by many cellphone companies including Nokia's own Symbian S60 SDK.
  • The name nokia was derived from the name Nokianvirta (a river in Finland).
  • Nokia is at present world’s top digital camera manufacturer coz the sales of its camera phones have exceeded those of any conventional camera manufacturer.
  • The digit 4 never appears in the nokia phone handset models launched in Asia coz it is considered unlucy in some parts of South-East Asia.
