Office 2003 - File SKU011.CAB not found

Updated on September 23, 2011

A few days ago I was in front of a PC that when I tried to open any office file it started to install the "Microsoft Office Professional 2003" and it stopped when it at the error "the file sku011.cab was not find".

I had the office cd and I inserted it, but also couldn't find the SKU011.CAB... So I tried to repair the oficce instalation, or even install it again... But when I tried to install, I got the same error: "could not find the file SKU011.CAB"...

Ii was giving me a headache so I had to try other strategies... Finally I found a solution, so if you guys need to solve this, you just have to do the following steps:

  • Stop the instalation/repair/initialization of office that is running and asking for the sku011.cab
  • Open regedit (start->run->regedit)
  • Find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Microsoft -> Office -> 11.0 -> Delivery
  • Inside "Delivery" there should be a folder with the "Download Code"; in my case it was "{90110416-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}", open this folder
  • On the right side select the key "CDCache" by clicking twice and change it from "2" to "0"
  • Now, try again to do the repair of office or install the office service packs to avoid the getting the same problem again

Hope this is useful for you. Any question, just message me!
