PDF Index Generator Review

Updated on November 18, 2012

PDF Index Generator claims to be a powerful book indexing program, which saves your ‘time and efforts’. Creating the back of book index is often a pain-staking job, which consumes a lot of efforts and time. Moreover, if you do it manually, there is always a risk of missing some words that you might not want to miss.

In this post, I am going to review PDF Index Generator, which is believed to cut a significant amount of your time and trouble when creating the back of book index – especially, in technical writing.

Important Features and Pros:

Following are the important features and pros of PDF Index Generator Software. For me, it does its job perfectly. Let’s see if the important features of this book writing software suit you well or not.

1. Easy-to-Use:

One of the best things about PDF Index Generator is the easiness, comfort and convenience it provides. Personally, I find the software to be extremely easy to use. Even a non-technical person like me can conveniently and comfortably create an index out of it. It is self-explanatory, with minimum fuss and gimmicks.

2. Seriously Powerful:

Despite being extremely easy-to-use, I must say that PDF Index Generator is a very powerful tool. It has lots of features, by using which, you can have complete command over your desired output. For example, you can include/exclude specific words on the go, and define headers, sub-headers. Moreover, by using the command line, you can index multiple books simultaneously.

3. Customization:

You have the option to customize your index the way you want. For example, if you want to exclude certain words, you have complete luxury to do that. Furthermore, doing that is very simple and easy too.

Similarly, you can also include any extra words that you would like to have in the index. If the word has been already repeated, a small pop-up will alert you about that.

4. Index Progress Report:

When you generate the index, you are shown a small yet useful piece of progress report. It explains the completion rate of your progress and the total words indexed. You can have an idea, using this information, that whether you want to change the amount of words or not.

The important thing here is that you do not even have to click anywhere to reveal this information.

5. Creating Links:

Another extremely useful feature of PDF Index Generator is its ability to create links in the indexed words. Using this feature, when you click on an indexed word, it will instantly teleport you to the page in which the word was first mentioned.

This feature improves the overall readability and navigability of your book.

The only so-called shortcoming in the software is the lack of more graphical interference. I am not too sure if it is right to call it a shortcoming, as this lack of graphical interference makes the software more sleek, comfortable to understand and easy to use.

Latest Version of PDF Index Generator:

The latest version of PDF Index Generator 1.9 was launched on October 24, 2012, with the following notable features:

· Undo/Redo buttons
