My review on Philips GoGear RaGa MP3 Player After Using it for 2 Years

Updated on July 27, 2014

Lets cut the chase, I know you are here for unbiased review for Philips GoGear RaGa MP3 Player. So without beating around the bush let's get started to the point.

It am using this mp3 player for more than 2 years now. The idea of writing this post stuck me when a friend of mine asked to suggest him a small portable Mp3 player. Therefore in this article I will try to list some cons and pros of the Philips GoGear RaGa and try to answer your Question if you should buy it or not. So let's get started.

Sound Quality

The sound quality is decent and they give your equalizer to tweak it. But quality largely depends upon your headphones. The earpiece that comes in the product is basic and you will need a higher end headphones to enjoy your music.

It offers a LCD display, which I can't find in any other device under the same price.

This player accepts several file formats besides MP3 unlike many small players and to add more you can also play Audiobook directly in it. This is helpful if you prefer listening to podcast.

The biggest advantage of having this mp3 is the brand name in affordable price. There no other mp3 player which can offer quality better than this player and lesser price. So if you are tight in your budget this is the best you can get.

Just like iTunes, this mp3 player comes with its own software called songbird for synchronizes the music from the laptop to the player. Although it's quite confusing to use first, later I found to very helpful. You can make your custom playlist very easily using this software. (see the video for more on this)

You can also set a sleep timer and support FM player (which I don't use much)

Battery Life

The battery backup is amazing even after 2 years, when fully charged it gives me a good 15 hrs+ battery life for audio.

There is no voice recording

Comes with Cheap quality earpiece, so make sure you have good earphones before you buy this.

It would be great, if this mp3 would have a clip to it which would have come handy while jogging.

It has Good Plastic body with rubbery finished. I like this feature but if you are looking for metallic body then you might be disappointed with it.

My Rating

4 stars for Philips RaGa 4 GB MP3 Player

If you looking for any MP3 player out there worth buying besides an iPod, then this is best player for its price. It has never disappoint me in past 2 years but make sure you already have decent headphone with you. Just Go for it.
