Pligg Sites - Powered by Pligg

Updated on January 27, 2012

Content Management System

I decided to write a hub this evening recommending some fresh bookmarking sites powered by Pligg but I have lost a lot of my files containing the exclusive Pligg sites that I received when I paid for a premium bookmarking tool. Therefore I decided to talk more about what Pligg is and how I set up my own Pligg site, however, this particular bookmarking site called Elretaule is not open to the public.

If you are looking for a social bookmarking list 2012 follow the hyperlink to the left and here I have included a bunch of sites which aren't featured anywhere else. I will be including a list further down the page of some lesser know Pligg sites just as examples with PR that you can use.

I will be creating further backlinking resources with explanations in hubs to come, although I only like to create original content so I should probably copyright my last list.

Social Bookmarks

Pligg is very easy to install on a domain and hosting plan that you purchase, I set mine up in around 45 minutes and it can be done quicker but I was new to it so I had to work out a few kinks.

Setting up basically involves downloading the files folder here and uploading via FTP, remember to delete the existing index.html file which will exist in the root directory of your hosting account.

After you have completed the above step, go to Pligg/mysite and click the install button, it is a process which involves choosing a language and you need to set up a MySQL database. Make sure to check your hosting provider offers MySQL and gives you the login details which you need to input during set up.

Pligg templates are available to give you different styles and themes for your bookmarking sites, you can also edit the existing page titles and categories in the 'Language' section of the Admin account which you would set up during the installation process.

In the sites I have listed below, you can see the variations in existing Pligg sites and you might notice there are different ways to advertise using pop-ups, Adsense and some people have even position ads closer to the submit button and register buttons.

You can see some sites are plain white and others have logos and different colour buttons, all of the different options are discuss in a dedicated forum. PR4 PR3 PR2 PR2 PR2 PR2 PR1 PR1 PR1 PR1 PR0 PR0 PR0

Both are different forms of backlinking, pligg sites are social bookmarks and Wordpress is a blogging platform. It helps to have backlinks from bookmarking sites, blogs and article directories.
