My Thoughts

This LED monitor does well for the price and for what it is intended and marketed to do. ASUS promises nothing extraordinary, but they deliver the goods with this one! The ghosting effect that some people have mentioned in other comments around the web is non-existent. The depth of the colors is very good and really helps provide that HD feeling. The shaky monitor due to the size, weight, and base is just a minor issue; I live with 3 other male roommates, so with all of them present and active (even with our washing machine going) it does not wobble. The only way to cause it to shake is from you changing the input source or navigating the menu (or maybe from an earthquake?). Speaking of the menu, it is very unattractive but considering you should only have to calibrate once to your liking, so I won’t knock it for that. Because this monitor does not have IPS capabilities (very disappointing), the viewing angle at which you look at it makes a huge difference in how the picture looks. Thankfully, this is my console gaming monitor and I only intend to sit right in front of it (unless of course I’m playing my Xbox One from the toilet, let’s be honest. We’ve all tried.).

  • Cons:
    • 60hz
    • Not IPS

My Recommendation

Well obviously, I listed more pros than cons because I struggle to find bad things about this monitor; there is nothing more that I can think of. Even the cons listed aren’t really cons at all, because I knew those things before I bought it; If I wanted a 120Hz and IPS-capable monitor, I would’ve bought one. Therefore, if you’re looking for a budget monitor (to make your wallet/wife happy or at least not as mad at you), this is the perfect monitor to try. You can always send it back if it doesn’t meet your standards. I specifically recommend this for console gamers or photo editors or to the casual person who likes a lot of screen workspace with great color.
