Power4Patriots’ Prime Renewable Energy Instruction Guide

America and the world civilizations are at a crossroad with respect to renewable energy, given the conditions of global warming and climate changes being faced, so this do-it-yourself, renewable energy instruction guide couldn’t be timelier.

For $94 plus shipping and handling, the prime guide arrives within ten (10) business days and includes:

  • CD-ROM of instructional videos
  • DVD “Solar Power System”
  • DVD “Wind Power System”
  • DVD “Solar Installation Superpack”
  • Spiral-bound, 300-page manual

As a surprise gift, the buyer might also receive a free seed offer for Heirloom tomatoes to start his own fresh vegetable garden, such as the case with this reviewer.

The consumer may opt for just the CD-ROM and online instruction for $27 plus the shipping and handling; however, the manual lies flat on a worktable to allow the do-it-yourselfer easy reference.

With the rising costs of fuel and electricity, the potential energy savings is well worth the investment in one’s own solar and/or wind system. Be prepared, though, to spend some time in learning the basics and purchasing the necessary materials.

My Reasons for the Purchase

I am, perhaps, the least likely person to purchase a prime solar/wind renewable energy package. But, a bit like the little old lady from Pasadena, I have an alter ego that comes to the surface from time to time. So, although I haven't heard of Ohm's law since high school, I believe in renewable energy and opted for the materials I thought would best nourish my interests. My daughter carefully watches the household electric bill and breathes with a sigh of relief when it's under $200. I'd like to see her relieved of the stress altogether. I also have two aging brothers who could use a little break from the expenses of running a dairy farm. So, why not?

How Much Does a Solar System Cost to Make?

Author's note: I founded the Benstead Solar Project, which never achieved complete fruition, in Torrance, California, during the late '90s. Solar panels for the City to heat its swimming pool had been estimated at $70,000 twenty years prior. As I recall, the project engineer's final estimate had more than doubled, an estimated $160,000 - $180,000. The City opted for a grant from Toyota to simply update the fuel heating system.

The Solar Cooker

The manual includes much more than solar panels. There are actually two sections, one general and a do-it-yourself guide for the following topics: solar panels, the wind turbine, and solar hot water. Additional topics covered as single sections are the solar heater, solar cooker, water survival, and surviving any emergency.

The solar-cooker section, which covers 17 pages, including the history and benefits of solar cooking, caught my eye. The instructions appeared easy to understand. Materials used were cardboard, retractor blade, marker, straight edge, a cardboard box, T-square, aluminum foil tape, foam board, gloves, a box cutter, a printer paper box, aluminum foil, glue, radiant barrier sheathing, permanent adhesive, a glass pane, adhesive-backed foam weather-stripping, ruler, adhesive-backed foam insulation, and a rope or bungee cord. (I could almost make one myself, if I put my mind to it!)

Further Reading

I've learned from my solar panel research in earlier days that solar panels have to be kept free from frost, but I was unaware that panels produce a direct current (most electricity used in the U.S. is alternating current).

I began to realize, too, that a person can't just set up that panels and run them. Solar panels require maintenance involving periodic inverter and battery checks.

Renewable Energy Program Potential

Having completed only 25% of reading unfamiliar terms to a novice, I began to connect a tangible experience, the visit to the local homeless veterans' shelter and training center. Wouldn't it be wonderful if a certificate program were available to the veterans so they could assist consumers who wanted to change over to a renewable energy system? I donated my solar program package to Clara White Mission to create an adjunct to their construction trade program for homeless veterans. If the general population of the U.S. were using at least 70% of its energy consumption with renewable energy sources, new jobs would be created and our environment would benefit in the process.***

Electricians Can Make Solar Panels

As a believer in solar energy, I impulsively purchased training material that covers much more than solar. Someone with knowledge of electricity can easily invest at the lower $27 package and still get everything necessary to incorporate renewable energy into his home. Like any endeavor, consistent follow-through to completion is required to make an investment in solar panels successful.

Marie, thanks for doing the research on this product and making the presentation. I can see how wise and practical you are. Solar energy should be everyone's concern.

Thank you, Ms. Dora, for taking the time to stop by and read my hub. The more people who express an interest in renewable energy, the more likely the idea will become reality. As someone once said, "There's nothing more powerful than idea whose time has come."

I have read on Facebook that France now has a law that requires all roofs to either accommodate green plants or have solar panels! How long will it take the United States to start thinking this way? ***
