Desktop Gadgets for Windows 7

Gadgets can not only enhance the view of your desktop, but they can substantially increase productivity. These gadgets simply curtail usage time by simplifying the way many applications are used and simplify work.

Different people require different widgets, according to their work style and profession. I, being a writer, may require a completely different set of tools than a person in IT or programming. However, keeping that in mind, the following are some of the most common gadgets that most people would enjoy.

1. Calendar Gadgets for Windows 7

Who doesn't need a calendar? If you do not have the calendar gadget, you will not have instant access to the current date by just glancing at your desktop. In order to see the date, you will have to click the clock and calendar at the bottom right of your taskbar. Having a calendar gadget at your desktop can also remind of special dates and reminders. The default calendar gadget just shows the date. However, if you are in need of more options, you can download some of the other popular calendar gadgets, which are loaded with options like birthday reminders, to-do list reminders, and much more.

2. Clocks Gadgets for Windows 7:

Clocks, whether they are the digital clocks or the analog, are very useful to have on your desktop. Through default gadgets, you can have the wall-like clock with around 10 different skins. However, there are other options and layouts out there. New clock gadgets have different options for alarms for your reminders and appointments.

Following are the links to download some of the popular clock gadgets:

3. Sticky Notes Gadgets

I don't know what I would do without sticky notes. As a writer, I always find myself in need of jotting down some points, ideas, or notes. Sticky notes are extremely comprehensive, easy to use, and simple. I personally like the default sticky notes application that comes with Windows 7 for its simplicity. However, there are a lot of different applications out there that are loaded with different features for those who like things a little more complicated.

4. Weather Gadgets for Windows 7

It is always wise to have this gadget in front of you to stay updated of the weather conditions. By using this application, you can effectively plan your trips and outings. Few people have the luxury now to sit in front of the television and watch the weather updates and forecasts.

There are a lot of weather gadgets available on the internet. Severe competition among them has forced new features. Now you can't only see the current temperature of a certain location, but also weather forecasts for the next week, the humidity level, wind directions, rain forecasts, graphical representations of different weather scenarios, and even the live satellite weather.

5. Performance Gadgets

Performance gadgets are good for keeping an eye on your computer's workload. I would recommend sidestepping the default performance-checking gadget in favor of a more sophisticated on which can give you access to more in-depth information. These performance gadgets check your system’s processing rate, RAM usage, a display of external and internal IP, wi-fi signal strength, battery usage, and other vital statistics.

@Uzma Shaheen: You are welcome. To keep track of time for different countries, I used a digital clock time. It gave me the option of having multiple clock gadgets, and each could be individually set with a different time zone. I am unable to precisely recall the name. However, you can use the following one. (I have my doubts, though):

@Randomcreative: Among all the above-mentioned gadgets, I use Sticky Notes the most. I prefer the default Sticky Notes application by the Windows 7. They are less CPU consuming, simple, and able to do the task.

Thank you for stopping by :)
