How to Stop Pinterest Emails and Notifications - Make Pinterest.com Quit Emailing Every Re-Pin

Updated on January 29, 2012

Normally, I love Pinterest. If you haven't tried it, stop what you are doing and click over to it. It is a phenomenal website that combines bookmarking with photos, allows you to organize your favorite websites into fun groupings and share via social media.

I can't get enough of this site, but every now and then I create a pin that become extremely popular and people re-pin and re-pin and re-pin. For a day or two, it was fun to see emails roll in that showed all of the people who re-pinned my link, but it quickly became problematic. My most popular one was re-pinned over one hundred times, and the email notifications were clogging my inbox.

Read on for a few easy steps to stop receiving unwanted emails from Pinterest and turn off notifications.

I love this website, but the excessive emails are driving me nuts! What should you do to stop Pinterest emails?

Have you thought about using this site to make a Bucket List? A Trip Planner? A Cookbook? Read this article for the best Pinterest tips and tricks.

Step One

Log in to Pinterest.com and your user name will appear in the upper right hand corner. Click on your name and then Settings (refer to the picture immediately above for the example.)

Change Email Settings

Step Two

Choose the button that says "Change Email Settings."

Lastly, Turn OFF the Email Options and Don't Forget to hit SAVE

Step Three

There are a series of options regarding your email preferences. Select and deselect the ones that suit your desires.

I did not want to receive instant notifications when people re-pinned my links, but chose to see the digest versions periodically.

Happy Pinning!

Now that the e-mail settings are fixed, go on and pin away! Do you have any special ways you organize yours?

I keep all of my family's favorite recipes organized on a single Board.

Please drop a note on how you use Pinterest.

Name doesn’t appear in upper right hand corner? Name is on left picture on right? Can’t click on anything you suggested?

I don't like the aggression of Pinterest. Why ? They are very AGRESSIVE with wanting EVERYBODY'S'S e-mail ! Otherwise they do NOT let anybody in. I find it like a BLACK MAIL place, inclufing my friends and colleagues. When WE go to many sites they DO NOT BLOCK us, sometimes looking at some pictures NOT pinterest side, just still jump in our faces blocking the picture, like a highway robber ! :)

The Pinterest Settings page is not the same as the picture above 2012.

I too have had great difficulty stopping their emails. Like Oliron, I click unsubscribe and I go no where. However, if I click other options like Help it takes me right to the page. I have tried to work with my settings and even changes my email, but they still come to my previous account. Please respond with current way to unsubscribe.

Hi Amy, I think you may need to email Pinterest help desk or simply block the emails in your email application. It sounds like someone may have signed up using your email, but the system should have required an account check before it allowed the account to be created. Of course, you can always sign up for an account at Pinterest! :-)

Thank you WE! It is very addicting and many people like it for the social aspects. I find tons of fun recipes and crochet patterns as well as fun Lego idea for my son. The more I use it, the better it gets. I highly recommend taking a few minutes and exploring it (after turning off the email notifications of course!)
