Billionaire Philanthropist: Bill Gates
Mastermind of Software
Bill Gates was born in 1955 in the wet and windy, Seattle, Washington. Bill Gates started from nothing. He grew up and he co-founded Microsoft, which is the world's largest computer software company. In 2000, Gates founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, of which this foundation's functions are overseen by his wife. This charity organization is just one of the philanthropists works that Bill Gates partakes in. He is also a computer programmer, and an investor. He was the largest shareholder up until the year 2014.
During his career at Microsoft, he held the positions of CEO, Chief Software Architect (a position he created for himself). Gates has showed heart and compassion especially as he has aged. He and his wife Melinda, have a heart for giving. They are very blessed you have everything for so long, you reach a point where you do not need anything. He can afford to give it away. The difference in he and other really, rich people, he really does give of his fortune to other s. He and his wife want to make a difference in the world and they try to help as many as they can. Many people may not know that about him.
The computer world owes a debt to Gates who developed the BASIC computer language as well as Microsoft Office, Word, Works and of course, Windows Operating System. Gates has written several books and appeared in a few show, films and advertisements. Is there anything that this man can't do? The computer programs have allowed individuals and businesses to carry out their functions easily and quickly. Gates has a quick mind and he started from the bottom and made it to the top and for that alone he should be commended.
Gates began programmed computers from his home at the very young age of thirteen and at age fifteen he and Paul Allen ran Traf O'Data (a small company with a PC that counts street cars as they pass) and sold it to The City of Seattle for traffic counting. He has never ceased to create new and innovative products such the X-box and the X-box 360 as well as the Zune.
Much like the late Steve Jobs from Apple Computers, Bill Gates was very crude and shrewd when it came to his computer business. Expecting perfection is why his products are always top notch and more. He will not settle for second best. Gates was known to be very rough in his business tactics and it has paid off but, on the other hand Gates has given over 2 billion to charities. Although, he may seem a little intense at times, I would be too if I had the amount of money that he has. Gates biggest charities have to do with medical science and education. He was voted person of the year Bono in 2005. More people who have the means need to be as giving to charity as Bill and Melinda Gates have been.
Bill Gates is a true competitor and that is why he is wealthy. He has that go get them, kind of will power and drive for success. It seems to me that maybe Bill Gates and Steve Jobs fed off of each others competitiveness. Each man would strive to have "the next best thing". This is good because the public wins in this type of situation. Competition is good for the public we win because each one Bill Gates and now Tim Cook, both want to be number one. So, we benefit from the highest quality because, of their competition. This is truly an amazing story, Bill Gates went from absolutely nothing, to having anything that money could buy and more.
Everyone, loves a truly American success story and the story of Bill Gates fits into that realm. He is one of the early pioneers in computing and should be applauded as such. Gates is known in the business world as a tireless worker barking commands but, he is also a tireless worker in charity. Now that he has stepped down from his post at Microsoft, he devotes full time hours to his charity that he and his wife Melinda run together.
His net worth is a cool $77.5 billion. He would be worth a
