Curiosity Rover

The Curiosity Rover is a spacecraft the size of a small vehicle that travels all over Mars, collecting data and objects from the planets surface. This machine has a robotic arm, cameras and wheels and many more working parts. It is fascinating to read about it. This machine learns about climate on Mars and even has a section that collects dust from the planet's surface.

The Rover weighs 1,982 pounds, stands over 7 feet tall and over 9 feet long. It is almost 9 feet wide as well.

Google Glass is an updated Smartphone in a pair of glasses that you wear. You mainly use your voice to tell the hands free device what it needs to do. Almost like Siri, on the I Phones. It is called, Augmented Reality or wearable technology, which is what it is. A computer in your face at all times for web surfing, reading e-mails, using GPS, and many other things.

One of the controversies about this headset, is that you can take photos and video footage without others realizing it. The device runs on Android 4.4 and it has 1 GB RAM, 16 GB Storage, and it uses Bluetooth and WI-FI.

Tesla Model S

The Tesla Model S is a plug in electric car that gets 89 MPG and, it is a regular sized automobile with power like a normal vehicle has. The car uses an 85 KWh battery pack. It has a one speed, fixed transmission and it is a 5 door lift back, luxury car.

The electric motor has over 400 Horsepower. Unlike most electric cars this one is a full sized car with fast take off and speeds. The car accelerates to 125 MPH.

Deepsea Challenger Submarine

The Deepsea Challenger is 24 feet long and it was invented to reach the deepest point of the earth. It has 3-D rendered cameras and photo equipment, for gathering information on the deepest known point of the earth which is deep below the oceans floor.

The vehicle has an 1,100 pound weight attachment to help it sink and reemerge. Also, it is 24 feet long, 12 thrusters for propulsion. 43 inch pilot sphere and the improvements in technology will allow us to truly learn about the earth's inner core.

Baxter Robot

Baxter the robot is 3 feet tall and it can reach heights of nearly six feet tall with its lift pedestal. Baxter is an industrial robot machine that has two working arms that are primarily used for packing and unpacking loads especially at warehouses with repetitive work.

Baxter has a face that makes expressions such as showing confusion when a system is shut down and it also has sensors that tell it when a person approaches. The best part about this mechanical innovation is that the robot can be taught. You can show, with your hands, what you want Baxter to do and he will memorize it after a few looks and then perform the task.

Wingsuit Racing

Wingsuit Racing is a recognized sport now, and it is called the Wingsuit Flying World Championships. The suit has wings connected to the arms and legs, that allow the rider to glide similar to Batman.

The competition starts from a 5,000 foot cliff and in the end, a parachute deploys. The flyers jump in free fall style and must then glide and avoid dangers before parachuting at the last possible second in order to get the best time and win the race.

The Techpet is basically a virtual pet but, much improved. A Smart pet, if you will. You attach an I Phone to the dog's face, and put the correct APP in effect. The dog has a camera and multiple microphones and speakers.

This hi-tech pet called, Techpet can learn and perform commands by watching hand movements as well as recognizing human speech. You can change your dog into over 40 different canines and each one has it's own expressions and sounds.

Enable Talk Gloves

The Enable or Digital Talk Glove is more or less a Smart Phone. People who are hearing impaired or mute, but do not know sign language, can use this glove for communication. Sensors are inside the glove that translate sign language into texts, which coverts to actual words, on a Smart Phone.

This invention sets the path in motion, for more improvements such as: sign language gloves for hearing impaired people from other countries. This technology is just the start of something much bigger in the near future.

Motion Activated Screwdriver

The Motion Activated Screwdriver is made by Black and Decker and retails for under $50.00 It has built in sensors almost in the mold of the Nintendo WII. Tilt the screwdriver left and it screws left and tilt it right and it tightens screws. This cordless and no button screwdriver is rechargeable and if you twists your wrists you can control the speed of the driver.

Indoor Clouds

Indoor Clouds were created by Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde. The cloud can appear for seconds in the center of a room by using a Fog machine at the perfect time. Lighting, temperature and humidity are all part of the equation to make this seemingly miraculous display occur.
