The Glif. The newest iPhone upgrade to hit the market, and it's taking the market by storm.
So what exactly is the Glif? It's an iPhone 4 tripod mount and stand. This cheeky designed piece of plastic was designed by Tom Gerhardt & Dan Provost. Tom and Dan are both designers whom live and work in the big apple of New York City. According to their about us home page, they "enjoy making simple things and things simple." Pretty good catch phrase, kudos.
The two pals from New York City had this idea stirring in there heads but like anything else, without action an idea would be well..an idea. However with a great idea such as this, they could easily have taken it to the likes of Wal Mart, Best Buy, even the head hancho Apple. But they didn't want the corporate control over the Glif, that idea didn't settle well with them. So instead they left the fate of the Glif in the hands of the people.
They did this by creating what's called a Kickstarter Campaign. Kickstart is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Kickstarter connects you with people who are interested in helping out your ideas and is a people funded based platform. Meaning if people essentially like your idea enough to support it, they kick down a few donations to raise the funds for your idea.
With time and people wanting to see this product to succeed, Tom & Dan managed to raise enough money to Kickstart their idea into a reality. See the video below to check out the cool iphone upgrade known as the Glif. Although I'm not sure where the name came from, it doesn't really matter because this little gadget is the bizzzzzzzz.
The Glif : The Newest iPhone 4 Upgrade
If you would like to purchase the Glif, it retails at $20.00 USD and is exclusively sold only at the Glif website. You can also visit Tom & Dan's website which shows all of their other cool projects and designs at Studio Neat. Last but not least if you've got an idea and need it funded, visit Kickstarter for more information on that.
Personally I feel it's in a class of it's own. As the iPhone keeps progressing we're using it as a 720p recorder now with HD quality. The technology is getting reedunkkk.
