The Most Stylish Televisions Money Can Buy

Updated on December 4, 2013

Stylish Televisions - More Than Just Media

A television is more than just a way to access your favourite media, it is also an integral part of your home's décor. A television is often placed in a prominent position within a room - at the natural focal point in fact, as this is where it can be most conveniently viewed. Many living rooms have quite large sets which can really dominate the visual aesthetic of the room.

So when you are choosing a new set to buy I always think that the visual appeal of the set - and whether or not it fits in with the overall style of your décor, should be a major consideration. Of course the most important thing is always going to be the quality of the picture and the range of features - a television is a piece of technology after all and not just a decoration. But that doesn't mean that you can't also get yourself a set which looks nice and complements its surroundings.

Many televisions have a very similar look to them, and I think part of the reason for this is just that most people don't take the design into consideration as much as they should so there is less pressure on manufacturers to innovate in terms of design as well as technology. There are, however, some really beautiful sets out there to buy - and that is what this article is about. Some of the stylish televisions featured here may be out of your price range (although some are also very reasonably priced), but I hope that they will still inspire to take style and design into consideration a bit more next time you buy a TV.

Hidden Technology - Mirror TVs

One of the most stylish innovations in television design in recent years has been the development of 'mirror televisions'. This builds on a simple idea - that when your television isn't in use it should blend into its surroundings, adding to the style of a room rather than just being a big black box of electronics which just sits there and stands out like a sore thumb. But it actually goes further than this, because a mirror television can actually be used as a regular mirror when it is switched off - making this a practical as well as attractive idea!

You can even buy a choice of 'frames' to fit around your set so that it will fit in any style of room. This is great for bathrooms, where you can install a television set in place of your regular mirror. But it can also work really well in any room where you have put a lot of effort into interior design, and a big black box doesn't fit with your style. From period properties to rural cottages with an arts and crafts feel, a mirror television over the fireplace can be the perfect choice.

Samsung LED Mirror TV

Samsung Curved Panel Smart 3D OLED HDTV

The curved panel design of Samsung OLED television is makes it a great 'feature set' for any modern lounge. The great thing about these products are the fact that they combine the best in technology with the best in design. Not only are they very styling, but they have stunning picture quality thanks to the OLED display - a significant improvement on HD LED and Plasma technology - and of course there is a host of other advanced features such as voice control and touch pad remote.

The 'Smart Evolution' kit also allows for software updates to add new features to your set, helping to 'future-proof' your television - which is handy because at this price you would want to buy a new one any time soon!

Integrated TV and Furniture

If you don't want to mount your television on the wall then you will probably have some kind of furniture to put in on, and perhaps to store all your DVD / Blu Ray players, games consoles and set top boxes as well. Usually you buy the TV and the furniture separately. If you are concerned about interior design then this does, of course, mean that you have to match the two so that they work well together. But that doesn't have to be the way - the famous Swedish furniture brand IKEA are re-imagining your media furniture - with the television already integrated!

The Ikea TV

LG OLED High Definition TV

This is another great product which combines the some of the best technology on the market today with one of the most innovative and unique designs. This is one TV set which gets noticed as soon as someone walks into a room, so if you are looking for a stand out product to serve as a main focal point for the room this might well be the perfect product for you.

Like the Samsung set above it has a slightly curved screen, and is packed full of innovative features.

I was going to vote that a stylish TV is not at all important (in your poll) but, the TV takes up so much space in a room and we point all the chairs towards it... It should at least be presentable.

Yeah, I have a Samsung phone too and they do seem to have make big strides in recent years to make high quality products across the board.
