Transfer Old Files From a Mac

Step 1: Connect the new Mac to your old Mac with a FireWire cable.

Step 2: Restart the old Mac while holding down the “T” key. This launches it in “firewire target disk mode”…

Step 3: This turns your old mac an external hard drive.

Step 4: Start up your new Mac under normal conditions

Step 5: Go to –> Setup Assistant under Applications then go to Utilities.

Step 6: Now you can transfer data off of the old computer, including accounts, settings, preferences, applications, data, the works.
