- How to Tether With iPhone
If you want to use your laptop and can't get an Internet connection, tether it to your iPhone to use your device's 3G connection.
Perhaps the biggest change with the release of the iPhone 4S is the introduction of Siri, a personal assistant that helps you navigate your iPhone and your world. However, Siri can fall victim to both software and hardware issues, and issues with how the user has set up the iPhone 4S. Troubleshoot your problems with Siri to see if you can solve the problem on your own or if you need to either send the device back to Apple or take a trip to your local Apple Store.
Siri Not Working
Siri generates its responses by sending your query to Apple's servers. As a result, Siri will not work on your iPhone 4S if you're not receiving an Internet signal of some kind, such as 3G or Wi-Fi. In these cases, Siri may say that the program is having trouble getting an Internet signal or that you should try speaking your query to Siri at a later time. Alternatively, Siri may not be working because it isn't turned on. To check whether Siri is turned on, tap "Settings," "General" and then "Siri." Tap the On/Off toggle until "On" is highlight in blue. If Siri is still not working, restart your device or re-sync it with iTunes. The problem just may be a software hiccup.
Siri Isn't Speaking My Language
Siri is only programmed to operate in five languages: English (Australia), English (United Kingdom), English (United States), French and German. If Siri is turned on but isn't interacting with you or is interacting with you in a different language, navigate to "Settings," "General," "Siri" and then "Language." Select the language you want Siri to operate in on your iPhone 4S.
Siri Can't Locate Places
You need to enable Location Services on the iPhone 4S for Siri to give you feedback regarding where things are located. If Location Services isn't enabled, Siri will only tell you it can't find a location or prompt you to turn on Location Services. Check your Location Services settings by navigating to "Settings" and then "Location Services."
Siri Doesn't Function Correctly
You have to be very detailed when speaking to Siri and give the program as much information as possible. Speak clearly and say the full name of people you want to contact, full addresses when looking for a location, specify AM and PM when requesting time and date information, and so on. Also, you have to speak out punctuation marks in sentences and phrases. For example, at the end of a sentence, you must say "Period" for Siri to process that the sentence has concluded. Additionally, don't whisper when speaking to Siri. Raise your voice so Siri can understand what you're asking or stating.
