What is mobile network?
In simple terms Mobile network is something that allows you to make/receive calls, text messages etc. This has been made possible due to our vast advancement of technology.
It simply started as just taking and making calls and nowadays we can pretty much do everything on our cellphones starting from video calls to watching TV. So, if you are wondering how it started, down below are a few information that you should check out.
2g is refereed to as second generation wireless technology. Before, when 1g was around everything was analog. 2G is where the radio signals that were transmitted, became digital. . Now, as soon the signals became digital, the data transmission rate was improved and thus improved the quality of the voice calls. 2G was also when Text messaging or SMS was introduced.There were two more upgrades made in the 2g family.
1. 2.5g(GPRS) also known as General Packet Radio Service is where the signals transmitted were upgraded a bit more, which once again improved the data transmission and this improving the quality of calls. During this concepts like, mobile internet, picture messaging, MMS came in to popularity.
2. 2.75g(EDGE) also known as Enhanced data rate for GSM Evolution is where the data transfer rates even more enhanced and once again improving the quality of calls and the speed of the internet.
3G Stands for “Third generation wireless technology” This technology came up with the capability of carrying larger amount of data. During the time of 2g, mobile phone usage rate went really high. So generally to cater the excess mobile users service providers had to think in terms of Capacity and that is exactly how 3G evolved.
The signals having the capacity of carrying larger amount of data improved the data transmission rate by a huge rate thus improving the quality of the voice calls and data transfer rate of the internet. This is also where concepts like Video calls, Mobile TV, Mobile Broadband came in to popularity.
4G stands for fourth generation wireless technology. This is 5 times better than of its predecessor. Radio signals were once again improved increasing the data transmission rate thus improving various features like quality of voice calls, internet speed etc. In 3g the theoretical data transfer speed is around 7 mb per second. 4G being 5 times faster speed goes up to 42 mbps. However in reality the speed is much lower.
