What You Must Know Before You Buy Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

Updated on November 21, 2013

Critical Review of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

Samsung Galaxy tab 3 10.1 is a great tablet and indeed, it has great features. Among the great features of this tablet are better resolution than tab 2, pretty good battery, pretty good sound, sleek design etc. This tablet also has some shortcomings. As a prospective buyer you should know about both the great features of and the shortfalls so as to make an informed decision. In this article, I have mainly concerned myself with the shortcommings of tab 3 because I believe you can easily read about the great features of this tablet on samsung website. You can also check my profile after reading this article so as to discover other similar articles I have written. Please as a means of appreciating this research work, you can help me share this article with friends on social networks like twitter, facebook, google plus etc. Happy Reading.

The Following Things Must be Known by a Prospective Buyer

  • Lack of Camera Flash and Adobe Flash

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 has 3.15MP camera but lacks flash. If you are a flash freak then you must think twice before you buy this tablet. Also this tablet does not come preloaded with adobe flash. This latter shortfall may not be very spectacular because you can manually download flash player by yourself.

  • Lack of Compatibility With Digitizer Pen

Some people may want to buy Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 because they want something that will allow them to take notes. While you may be able to do this on Tab 3, it may not be as great as it is on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. This is because Samsung galaxy tab 3 does not support digitizer pen, but you can use stylus pen with it. In a direct word, a digitizer pen is far more superior than a stylus pen because a digitizer pen has pointed mouth and writes better than stylus pen. I think Samsung Inc. should take this issue into consideration when producing their next galaxy tab.

  • Ram Issue

A prospective buyer should know that if he or she is thinking of using heavy applications on this tab then he or she should go for a tab with higher ram in the galaxy family. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has 1gig ram which may make the tab sometimes slow when opening many applications or when opening heavy application like some game applications. Also opening many browsing tabs may be slow because of the small ram. I think a prospective buyer should consider this issue of ram very well before buying it so as to avoid unnecessary complaints afterwards. It all depends on what you want to use it for, if you are using it for short tasks that does not take ram memory then you may be very ok but if not, then you may consider galaxy note. I do hope that Samsung Inc. makes sure that they improve on the ram memory in their next generation of galaxy tab.

  • Back Button Issue

The location of the back button makes it susceptible to accidental press. This may not be a serious issue especially if you are careful. Also you are more likely to get used to it as time goes on. I have only mentioned it because a prospective buyer should know about it so as to make an informed decision.

  • Thin Bezel

While this gives tab 3 a sleek design look, it is important for one to know that the side bezel is thin, and there are chances you will mistakenly touch the tab screen when holding it. This may prompt unwanted actions that may be quite frustrating. On the other hand, one must not forget that if you are the type that value large screen then tab 3 10.1 is what to go for. Large screen gives you the better view of what is on the screen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is a great tablet except for few shortcommings discussed above. I can recommend buying this tablet so far you have read about the shortcomings and you know what you really want to buy.
