Is Sony Xperia Z1 truly great? You should be able to form an opinion by the end of this article. In this review I try to touch those important things that prospective buyers must know about before they buy this phone. The Shortfalls You Must Know About Before You Buy Sony Xperia Z1

  • A bit Heavy

If you are a type that is really used to very light smartphones, then you may easily notice the slight heavy nature of this phone. It seems Sony has not really concentrated much on making the Xperia Z1 very light. However, you must know that the phone is not very heavy and you may not easily notice it if you have not been using very light phones before. I can advice prospective buyers to try to hold the phone and see how they feel with it before they buy one.

  • Charging Issue

Xperia Z1 is waterproof and so it is designed in such a way as to prevent water or moisture entry. But it is a bit frustrating opening the charging port so as to insert the charger because of the closely tight flap. This may not be a spectacular problem, but it is germane that a prospective buyer know about this. One solution to this charging issue is to buy Sony magnetic charger. I think it would have been better if Sony Inc provides the magnetic charger along with the phone instead of having to buy it separately.

  • Camera Issue

Sony Xperia Z1 is among the first set of phones that has 20.7 MP camera, if not the only one. As great as this may sound, I will advice a prospective buyer to really consider the situation very well before buying this phone just because of the camera. For a camera to be very fantastic, both the sofware running the camera and the hardware must be great. Although Sony has put much effort into developing the camera hardware but the software does not seem fully developed. This makes the image taken by the camera not as great as you will expect for a 20.7MP camera, and also it may be hard to focus sometimes. Maybe if Sony rolls out update this problem is going to be solved.

Great Features You Must Know About Before You Buy Sony Xperia Z1

  • Brilliant Design

Sony Xperia Z1 has a solid feel when held. It is covered with a tampered glass both front and back. This glass is covered with a shatterproof film and thus making it a bit resistant to damage. The side of the phone is designed with aluminum and also as an almost rounded edge. The phone has a sleek design. Xperia Z1 comes in black, white and purple.

  • Waterproof and Dust proof

Sony Inc. has come up with a feature that is worthy of mention. Xperia Z1 is both waterpoof and dust proof. This is a fantastic improvement on the part of Sony Inc. You don't need to worry about rain wetting your phone again. The fact that the phone is also strong and dust proof means that you can carry it when performing sports.

  • Fast Processor

This phone comes with a 2gig ram memory and qualcomm snapdragon MSM8974 800, thus making it excellently fast. You can perform a lot of task simultaneously with little or no hassles. If you are considering a smartphone with a great speed then you may give this phone a trial.

  • Battery Stamina Mode

Sony Xperia Z1 comes with a software that allows it to save a lot of energy when not it use. This feature is called battery stamina mode. It has been said that this feature can increase the phone's standby time up to 4 times, but I have not been able to independently verify this.

  • Expandable Memory

Sony Xperia Z1 has a memory slot that can support up to 64gig memory card.

The Precautions That You May Need To Take When Using Sony Xperia Z1

Depending on how careful you are, you may need a screen protector and a phone case in order to really enjoy using this phone. I have made this suggestion because the covering of the phone is made of glass, and it may get scratched with time.

The price of Sony Xperia Z1 is around $600 on amazon, it is likely that the price will drop with time so you may wait till then if you don't mind.

Sony Xperia Z1 is a great phone and it has many great features. Once you are satisfied that the shortfalls I mentioned above are not really spectacular then you may buy one.
