If situation takes place when there is a need to power any 5 volt DC device, your usb wire at home is a good idea to use for that certain device.

Inside your usb device has four wires. Common usb wires always have these four wires and always use 5 volt DC running inside it.

*Note: USB means Universal Serial Bus.

So, what are the colors and the corresponding code of USB cord?

Ordinary USB wire has the colors, black and white, green and red. Black serves as the ground wire or the negative wire. White color wire is the Data in positive and green is the negative Data. Data wires are used as data transfer, back and forth. Ultimately, red wire is for the voltage to support the device. Red wire in the usb has always 5 volts.

USB color coded wire, different wire colors

There are various four colored wires in a USB depending on the manufacturer who made the usb cord. Standard would be red, black, white and green.

Another set of usb wires inside your usb is the ORANGE, WHITE, GREEN and BLUE. (As shown in our photo above)

ORANGE is always the 5 volt wire or the positive wire which will only function if paired with the ground wire which has the color of WHITE.

BLUE wire of this kind of USB wire is the pathway for the Negative Data or Data- and the GREEN wire is the pathway for the Positive Data or Data+.

You can also test the voltage of your USB by using voltmeter or multi-tester.

The thing is, if you try to open your USB wire and confuse of the color, just refer the four colors mention above. They may differ but always remember that red is always the positive which has 5 volts.

You can also connect different wires by just splicing the particular wire to the corresponding code and to their corresponding color.

How often do you have USB problems?

Good post, although you have the Green and White wires reversed. Data + is Green, Data - is White.
