What to do when your iPhone 4 turns off and won't respond to anything
So how do I fix it?
We operate a mobile iPhone and iPad repair service (Platinum Repairs) in Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa and this problem comes up fairly often. It doesn't require us to drive out to our customer to repair their iPhone - they can usually do it themselves by following our instructions. This might solve your problem if your iPhone 4 suddenly turned off and won't turn on again, boot or show that it is charging.
Ok, so your iPhone 4 just died?
How to fix this problem without having to pay for someone to repair your iPhone.
Our customers use their iPhones constantly and are at a loose end when their device doesn't work. Their social and business lives come to a screeching halt...
Thankfully we have discovered a simple solution that works most of the time - a hard reset. How to do this: Hold your power & home button down at the same time for 15 - 20 seconds. At around 15 seconds, but sometimes at 20 seconds, the Apple logo should appear and your iPhone 4 will boot up and be back to it's normal, awesome, self.
We don't know what causes this to happen but it seems to happen fairly often. We think it is a little bug in the iOS software that just makes the phone crash every now and then. If this doesn't fix your problem, take the iPhone in to your service provider if it's under warranty.
