Why are we so dependent on gadgets?
The answer to this question is an easy one: Time has changed. Just stop doing what you are doing at the moment and listen...Noise is all around you and you are surrounded by gadgets.
When I was in school, the Internet did not exist in our society. My friends did not have computers nor mobile phones. These electric toys were not considered toys. The real toys were: dolls for girls, cars for boys and blocks sets for both. No one complained about anything and all children were happy and satisfied.
Then in secondary school the Internet era began. An increasing number of people started to buy computers with required Internet connection. Soon afterwards my parents did the same thing. Again, I did not complain. On the contrary, I was delighted. All of a sudden I got a virtual window through which I could see and buy anything I imagined.
Another exciting feature was that you could actually talk to your friends using a computer and that was it. First there was ICQ then SKYPE, Facebook, My Space etc. There you could chat, share music, photos, newspaper articles, do your homework online...
All of this can sound and look tempting, but it is not. When you have these possibilities you do not feel the need to go outside, to see your friends and visit your family live except online. To actually try on clothes that you buy, to feel the quality of cloth under your hand.
Simply put, we are accustomed to have everything done by various devices because it is much easier. How many of you have written something recently using a pen and a piece of paper?
That is why it is easy to answer to this question but whether we like it or not people are slaves of modern advanced technology. But there is always a solution: visit your friends and family more often.
