Renewable energy source-Wind plant

How popular is wind energy?

Wind energy is one of the most popular energy technologies. Opinion surveys regularly show that just over eight out of ten people are in favor of wind energy, and less than one in ten (around 5%) is against it. The rest are undecided. For more information, read about public attitude surveys in wind energy.

How safe is wind energy?

Wind energy is one of the safest energy technologies. No member of the public has ever been injured by wind energy or wind turbines anywhere in the world, despite the fact that there are now over 68,000 operational wind turbines.

Wind energy is one of the most important sources of renewable energy. In areas with adequate mid-level wind speeds, the use of environmentally neutral wind power can reduce fossil energy fuels. Disadvantages include the minimal energy concentration and the irregular availability. For this reason, multivalent energy systems with preferential use of renewable energy will be built for future use.

Wind Energy Converter includes five major parameters

1. Gear box oil level.

2. Gear box temperature.

3. Wind speed.

4. Height of plant.

5. Wind direction.

In our project we are simulating 1st three parameters.

There are two basic functions:

1) Data acquisition.

2) Data logging.

Data Acquisition :

Data Acquisition System acquires data from just a few input channels. More complex system receives data from hundreds or even thousands of input channels. The input channels are scanned sequentially in case of few input channels, or according to the preset sequence for a more complex system.

Data Acquisition System accepts the data from various transducers in any electrical form(in terms of voltage, current, change in resistance, change in capacitance) and bring it to suitable form and record the data .For performing these functions, it has various systems such as signal conditioning, multiplexer, data conversion data processing associated transmission ,storage and display system combined together .

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT

Now we simulated the parameters of “WIND ENERGY CONVERTER”. But it requires sufficient wind speed for its operation. MOBILE WIND ENERGY CONVERTER 2 (MoWEC2) which is going to implement in the future, can produce use energy without sufficient wind velocities.

In future MoWEC2 is going to test (here without diesel engine) with one rotor and a diesel engine. This bivalent system can produce use energy also in times without sufficient wind velocities.

MoWEC1 and MoWEC2 we can recommend the construction and utilization of mobile wind energy converters for rural areas, mainly with more than one rotor per system.

In the future, larger machines may be produced for IRRIGATION pumping and other applications. One possibility is pumped-storage systems in which water pumped from a low elevation to a reservoir at a higher level is allowed to flow back through a hydroelectric turbine.

Very nice hub. I am planning to add a wind generator to enhance my solar panels for additional generation. I am now your fan. Looking forward to more.

whatever extra light supply u r getting is from wind plants..u r not supposed to plant in ur home..ur government might have placed that, so prob of expences.

and if solar is concerned i am uusing solar lamps and water heating panels , and its not much expensive..if u r paying for that then u ll get light and hot water for life time..n for maintainance u ll have to only change tubes , nothing more..every thing has a end in this nature.

Wind and Solar are both valid alternatives. One point though - the large commercial wind mills are so costly to maintain. The Torque on the bearings withstanding the weight of such huge fan blades is mechanically inefficient. Solar is by far more practical as far as dollars to maintain go.... but technology is still behind in the area of solar batteries.

Very good information, nice hub. Wind energy can help you reduce your electricity bills and even eliminate it completely. A small wind-mill setup in you house can help you generate enough amount of electricity that all your household needs can be taken care off.
