You may need do wipe hard drive data for several reasons like upgrading your hard disk or if you would like to sell your old hard disk and need to buy another one etc. To securely wipe hard drive of most computers, lots of software are available. But are all of them really wipe hard drive completely and start over? I badly need wipe my hard drive data completely when I sold my old laptop. I need to wipe hard drive completely as I did not want anyone to recover or see any of the data as those all were my personal data. How to Wipe a Hard Drive and Start Over

To completely wipe a hard drive and start over, we will use a utility software. This utility software is a small software which is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers permanently. Using this software, you can easily and securely wipe hard disk data. We will use the utility Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") to completely and automatically delete the contents of any hard disk. Just follow the following steps to completely erase hard drive data securely:

Step 1: Firstly download the Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") website. This hard drive wipping utility can be downloaded from the link DBAN 2.2.6 Beta for CD-R and DVD-R media

Step 2: After completing downloading the utility, burn the utility into a CD / DVD media or a USB pen drive.

Step 3: When you completed burning the utility to wipe hard drive, use that to boot your computer / laptop which you would like to erase the hard drive. When you are able to boot from the image, a blue screen command window will be appeared. The screen may look like the following:

Step 4: Now, put the command to start permanently delete all data of your hard disk. For simplicity, you may use the command autonuke command and hit Enter key to start wiping hard disk. This is the easiest way to completely delete the hard disk data. Alternately, if you like the advanced option to wipe hard drive data, you may browse the other commands and then wipe the hard disk data completely and permanently.

After completing the above steps, you will see that the wiping of hard disk data starts and it takes much time to completely delete all the data from the hard disk.

After wiping hard drive completely, you will need to shut down your computer or you may start installing a operating system of your computer.

Following the above steps, anyone can easily wipe hard drive data completely and permanently and securely.
