Wordpress Blog development

Updated on June 9, 2012

Discovering Wordpress

I discovered a cool new blog development platform called Wordpress, this developer platform is actually really accurate at helping users submit their blog content & style of layout to publish onto the web. I quickly found from using it's admin control screen, that it's simple to construct blogs using it & its really user friendly. I only wish I had discovered such a blog development tool years back, because I could have used it to help my writing skills get noticed long ago.

I think that getting to understand a fully web based platform takes time for the average user, but I can only speak for myself when it comes to deciphering some tools that appear difficult to utilize. There's always many hidden menu's that take some time to discover, since each admin control screen is different from blog platform to blog platform. It took me about 10-20 minutes to adjust from using Google's E-blogger which isn't as professional to me, in my humble opinion.

I found Wordpress to be a definite means of effectively producing professional style blogs that have the appeal that many readers can enjoy. How the structure of your written, and visual content appears, will play a huge role in how it's going to be felt by visitors, who may love web surfing & searching through blogs as well as reading huge bodies of digital literature. So I highly recommend the full usage of this blog development tool.

Blog Layout & Template usage

It's very important to have a basic understanding of how your blog is going to appear to the audience, so prior to placing any content into a blogging platform such as Wordpress, you should consider thinking about how you want it to be seen. If your layout of your content isn't a focus earlier in the development process, you will find yourself having trouble trying to adjust things.

Wordpress has free blog templates, just like many other web development platforms offer to their users. A blog template for those who don't know, is a per-configured design of how the blog will visually display itself to the reader, or viewer as the blog sites page layout & overall visual appearance. Each template in it's own right has a dimensional quality to it, so depending on your likes you can utilize their free templates, as opposed to having to develop one yourself using HTML and CSS coding. Developers still have the option to develop the entire blog site themselves if they choose to with advanced administrative options.

For many years it was very difficult for people to be able to render a fully effective visual web display using traditional coding methods. Now with the advent of newer advanced techniques in web technology web developers & blog developers have the option to do it themselves, or utilize templates that were pre-designed. With the usage of developer tools like Wordpress, you can now enjoy the look & appeal of the more advanced web sites that are out here on the Internet today.

Note: to gain instant accessibility to this template gallery & controls for usage simply click the templates tab on the dashboard under the Appearance menu.

Page Controls

Pages Additions and Deletions

Your page controls allow you to make page changes & adjustments for page additions or deletions, which will become your blogs upper page tabs next to the home tab at the top portion of your actual blog. This section above is just a display on what the control panel, or dashboard looks like to the administrator controlling their blog on Wordpress.

Once you gain access to this admin screen, after creating an account on Wordpress you will quickly discover this section is filled with menu items & options to choose from, each initial page available for editing will be filled with deletable start-up content & on only two start-up pages, one page is the Title or homepage, and the other the About page. These two pages will be a simple way to get you started on your blog site development there, as soon as your content is ready for editing or adding to it, you may delete the previous info there to begin.

Below is the About page control screen, where editing and formatting will take place.

About Page

Use of Timelines and Positioning

Many blogs are designed purely for visual effectiveness, while others that definitely stand out have a re-occurring pattern of time coordination & positional placement of the authors specific subject matter. What I mean by this is that the author of a particular blog, & especially Wordpress bloggers seem to have an idea of when, where, and how things are going to fit into the context of the blog format itself.

This can actually help authors to get specific points across to their viewers, & just remember that each viewer may be looking for something of interest to them while visiting your blog site. So by being selective of the actual content placement, & by spacing things out a bit into sections or sub sections in a specified time sequence, you will provide users specific ways to place their focus upon, making more sense of things overall for visitors.

Use of tables, text highlights, Images, video & other positional viewing elements of special interest may help as well to enhance the viewers experience, just as is done here on Hub.

Links, Blogs Navigation and Relevant Subjects, Publishing

The links section is very useful and important to the full construction of the blogs external as well as internal page transitions, just as a typical website will function. The more relevant subject matter & content the author places into the blog in the form of informative linking the more the user may find it to be useful.

Make sure that all links are inspected prior to placement for accuracy & safety. You don't want to ruin the integrity of your new blog set-up due to the fact of broken links or malicious connections to sites that are truly crappy, or meant to do harm to someones computer system or network.

To access the addition of these blog page links simply search for the Links menu on the left of the dashboard. By clicking it you will gain access to the links page admin controls which allows the user to add links to internal or external webpages, which add the effective usage of the blog navigation's.

Once you view the Wordpress blog after editing the new links, you've added, you can see all the changes on the actual blog you developed thus far. Make sure to click publish before each movement to other controls or viewing of your work that's just been edited, or else you may lose the work. After publishing your blog, it will instantly be live for people to view on the web so also make sure to proof read it all prior to publishing it all.

Relevant subject matter is something that will keep your viewers coming back for more, & possibly score you more ranking on search engines, because it's going to be used as your sites SEO or Search Engine Optimization. This makes all the difference in how people can find your content on the web, as well as for your sites search field component to locate specific references.

Just try your best to be accurate & explicit with attention to every detail you've placed into action in your content, and if done properly your blog will quickly become in high demand by many viewers worldwide, simply by placing much more relevant content that matches the blogs title, sub title and main theme overall.

Above is my new Wordpress development - Just an example

Cloud News - Welcome to my new Wordpress location

I recently developed this cool new Wordpress location above to help people discover all the latest web technologies being released daily, which includes but not limited to cloud apps, web developer tools, tips, tricks of the trade, informative video tutorials & more. I believe it's something that's a huge necessity today to have a central place to learn from & share notes on the webs technically hidden treasures.

This all came out of my understanding, that there's much to many things going on at once in dealing with the web overall, and it's impossible for people to follow or know everything at once, nor do people care to do so, anyhow. So if you missed something that's either up & coming or newly brought to us all on the web, you'll most likely find it there, or at least the accurate safe connections from which it was originated from.

So I took on such a daunting task myself to attempt to track down on the web, what works best for folks & here it is today, my very first news site/blog. It's broadcasting from Twitter, Facebook, & Google+, as well as many other cool social networking platforms.

This is a very timely hub for me, for I was having a debate on what blog to use but I was "drifting" towards using Wordpress or Blogger. Now I after reading this, I decided to go with Wordpress! Thanks for the info!

I too use WP... my book is there:

I am having difficulty getting both IE and Chrome browsers to reflect the same thing. If I use my real web site URL, my "action buttons" are not shown! I have consulted with the techies and made html "adjustments... It is a work-in-progress.

I agree WP is an quick and easy template. Like anything else, the "fine-tuning" is a process!

      Thanks for sharing.

      Flag up and useful!

Very informative, I looked into this a little, and with this new found info may head back. Though once again the dreaded traffic seeker task gets me everytime.
