if you use microsoft office 2003, you can do it, without installing any additional application. how:
1. open office 2003
2. press the menu "Tools" - "Speech" - press "Next " and microsoft office will scan your voice. Follow the instructions, etc.
3. My suggestion, use microfond with good quality, to scan your voice.

The program what comes with VISTA is pretty good too if you don't want to spend a lot of money. I have friends who us Dragon Speech and like it as you have already seen here.
