    What computer for a 12 year old?

    I'm trying to help a friend of mine. Her son will soon be 12 and she wants to get him his own computer. It will be used not only for games, surfing and the usual but also school projects and hobbies. Do hubbers have a recommendation for a first computer for a 12 year old? There is so many different opinions on the net its confusing. Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello seeker7,

    This would be a little hard to say as there is a wide variety of computer out there with almost infinite number of choices.
    You have said here that it will be used for games, depending on what sort of games this can push the price higher.

    I can recommend a custom built computer if you know someone that can do this for you because it works out alot cheaper for your money, for example i went to pc world i took a look at the computer i wanted and bought all of the components separately and built the computer myself thus saving myself well in excess of £250

    If this isnt an option something you might like to browse a website called ebuyer they have a nice selection of desktop pc's on there

    If you want to go for an affordable PC setup that will be good for School work and video games I would suggest going with www.newegg.com

    You can pick out parts and either put it together yourself or have newegg put it together for an extra fee.

    regardless, newegg has the best prices around imo and a huge selection.

    Depends on if you live across the street from the school..... I would not advise letting a child under the age of 12 years old walk home from school if it is more than a block. This world is full of sexual preditors that live for the chance to catch our kids alone. I know it was just a movie, however if you have not watch the movie (Lovely Bones) That should answer this question.
