Are the Captcha security text images unreadability getting out of control?

I saw one that appeared to be in Chinese characters - or are so long that it's at least 17 keystrokes to enter.

I beg to differ.  It looks nothing like Chinese, more like Tamil.  But, coming back to the point, I would definitely agree with you!  I know that they are trying to make it as difficult as possible to read, but it is getting so that even humans can't read it.  sad

YES!!!  Thank you so much for this question.  Yes, I have a horrible time reading Captcha.  I understand it is there for security, but I can barely read it.  Sometimes I try a few times before I can even get into my account.

Have you ever tried to voice version?  With some Captchas, they give you the option of listening and typing what you hear.  That is so much worse.  I can barely make out anything being said.

Yes, captchas are very annoying!  Surely there is a better way to determine a bot from a human.

Yes, the Captcha security text images are getting a bit out of control. They were a lot easier up until now.

sometimes zooming in helps, but now-a-days, most of the times, you get it after 3-4 failed attempts

I think the math problem captchas are the way to go with the 4 - 2 = ... so computers can't handle those because they usually just copy it, and that way it takes someone to answer it.  or I saw one the other day that said The sky is? and the answer was "blue" so I mean there are so much better ways than to add stupid captchas to it.

Yes. I do agree that it is getting a bit out of hand.

It seems to be difficult to figure out what has been shown to type. I do encounter problem when comes to figuring out what I suppose to type.

At time, I will just keep changing the text until something that I can understand to type.

Yeah, I'm having so many problems with them these days that I'm beginning to think I'm not human!  Usually takes a couple times to answer correctly.

Sorry but I can't read this question. Is this a Captcha?

My apologies, I just couldn't resist the stupid joke.

Absolutely. When a person sometimes has to try 3 times to get it right, it's too much smile

I am elated to see this question. I was starting to think I was the only one thinking this. It makes me wonder what are the creators of this idea are going with it. It's a case of from one extreme to another.

I heard that some of those are actually copy of text from old books that google or someone is trying to get converted into text by using as captcha and having the internet army type the text out one at a time. If I think that I'm actually doing something by typing those it makes it less annoying.
