I am an android user using HTC Desire. I may not be in the position to advise you since HTC Desire is a year old already. Technology changes every day, a year's tech seems like a junk already.
My wife just bought an iPhone. Hence, I am able to compare both of them. Just by looking at the specs, they are both with similar hardware except that iPhone has 16/32GB internal storage compared to HTC's 150MB available internal storage.
Though the specs are similar, iPhone performs far better and faster than HTC Desire. Maybe because it doesn't support widgets, and all those fancy settings. I don't see a cluttered screen would have much help especially it slows down the unit.
Last couple of weeks, I have been reading reviews about tablets. There are a dozens out there now and the one that really stands out is still iPad2. I have tried and tested HTC Flyer, Galaxy Tab, Acer Iconia and they just couldn't match the speed of iPad2. Although they are of similar hardware spec, iPad2 just works smoother.
A lot of people are concerning about the amount of RAM. Figures are just numbers and most importantly is that all hardware and software work together well. You can have all the harddrive space in the world but it's useless if you do not know how to manage it.
Sorry to have said so much as you have clearly prefer Android. I just like to share my experience. Forget about the Anti or Fan stuffs. What's important is that it works well.
I would suggest that you go to your local store and try out the phones.
