It looks like your question has been answered. But, followers is not the key. It takes awhile to build up a list of followers, and often hubbers leave hub pages, or don't spend a lot of time here.
Those who make comments on my hubs, I will check their profile and see what they are writing about, their interests etc. I may or may not follow them right then and there, but may do so later on.
I do not follow every person who follows me.
I do take the time to vote, to comment in most cases, and to share hubs that I like, and find information that may be valuable to others on FB, Twitter, Digg, etc. I Google plus a lot of the hubs I read and really like too. There are hubbers where I do the blog this as well.
Followers is not going to make money for us. It is doing things that I mentioned above that is going to do it, and that is only if we do the same for each other. I read a lot of great hubs, with a lot of comments, but not one person has hit the Twitter share button, the FB button or even the Google Plus button.
Not only do we need to promote our own work, we need to do it for fellow hubbers as well. This way, we all see an increase in our viewers, as well as income.
