Should everyone be required to recycle?

Recycling, in many states, is still not mandatory. Should it be?

I don't know. I'm a big recycler and green living adherent; but I'm not sure how a requirement could be enforced on so large a population. I'm confident that sustainable practices are increasing, or should I say "greening" the world.

I just finished reading the Constitution. Recycling isn't mentioned in it. So the answer is NO

Some cities I've been in require recycling and with good reason. One it cuts down the waste filling their landfills. Two its a source of income for the municipality. A friend of mine runs a "dirty landfill" where they throw all the garbage on a conveyor belt and workers sort through the refuse removing recyclables. According to his estimates they reduce heading into the landfill by as much as 85%. Pretty amazing isn't it. The county he works for sells the recyclable material and turns a profit.

Should we require recycling..............yes where it is practical.

Recycling should be compulsory, in my opinion, in the majority of the countries, if not all of them.

The more soon we start to convince the society recycling is 100% necessary, the more soon we'll start to save the planet, or at least, stop damaging it.

On the other hand, recycling systems are not good in every country. Authorities all over the world, overall in the less developed countries, should focus more on this, as green initiatives are taking place in the biggest world powerful countries nowadays.

I think many "know" that recycling is necessary despite their inattention to do it. But compulsion is never the way to motivate people to what's right, even what's in their own best interest. Also, I'm a (moderate) green advocate, but I refuse the sa
