What is the most reliable page view/stats counter?
For example, there are often discrepancies between page views measured on Google Analytics and other stats sources.
Without a doubt the statistics provided by your website host, within your website Control Panel.
Third Party applications, such as Google Analytics, merely "read" the logfile information they are allowed access to.
Terry and I have used several Third Party applications, and in our opinion Statcounter is the best. it provides results consistent with the AwStats which is what our service provider uses.
The reason we use Third Party applications is because: (1) It keeps our clients out of the Control Panel, where they can break things, and (2) because the awStats interface is just a tad difficult to absorb for non-geeks.
Client feedback we have had about StatCounter is very positive.
I agree with Flanigan, if you own your own website, use your control panel's stats; if you use a third-party platform such as Blogger or some other website that lets you add tracking code, use StatCounter.
On Blogger, you just need to copy and paste the StatCounter code in an HTML/Javascript widget and then you can start traking your traffic by logging in to your StatCounter account.
On Blogger blogs at least, I've found the StatCounter service to be much more useful than Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, or the Blogger Stats page.

It is something that's bugged me for a long time how there is a discrepancy between GA stats and the stats my webhost provides for my website. Most people say GA is more reliable, but that wasn't making sense to me for many reasons. There is a very convincing argument that the stats that are...

We had this same problem a couple of weeks ago and it was resolved. Same problem again today though, so I'm reporting it. (If we don't report problems, how can we expect them to be fixed?)1 day stats are abnormally low, so I checked the stats on an individual hub. The 'day' stat there is...

I would certainly hope not, given that the HP stats counter seems to be rather past its use-by date, and frequently gets stuck. Even staff have told us in the past that we are better off using Google analytics.Whenever the stats get "stuck" they seem to have trouble catching up with...

The stats have frozen again, and have not been updated for 12 hours (heading for the weekend). Earlier in the week they were stuck for 3 days. That means that the stats are only OK, twice a week - very disappointing! It has been getting worse lately. Please fix this HP staff. Thanks.

There is a huge disparity between my Hub stats and my stats in Google Analytics. Hub stats shows me getting 300+ page views per day. Google shows about 20 per day. This disparity started around one month ago. I've been on Hubpages 5 years and never seen anything like this except for the...

As per subject title. This is insane. Sometimes I don't even know why I bother on HubPages anymore. Nothing I do seems to work for more than a week. Not the easiest time at a personal level either. Still, I have a goal to meet, in terms of hubs. After that, however, who knows?
