Were you aware that friending people you don’t know on Facebook can lead to a suspended acct.?

Unlike HubPages, where it’s encouraged to follow other members, Facebook views this negatively. There are times I see an interesting post from a like-minded individual on a friend’s wall and I want to send them a friend request. However, I won’t do it because they have the option of telling Facebook they don’t know me. This can actually result in having your account suspended. I enjoy following other Hubbers and am glad I don’t have to worry that I’ll be seen as a stalker. When I see a comment I like or agree with I usually follow the Hubber right away.

I wish I'd known this a couple of years ago when I was obsessively playing Mafia Wars and FarmVille. I think I had almost two thousand people on my Facebook then!

For the record, I didn't make that link.

haha...Yes, it is good information to know! Re: the Facebook link, it's done automatically and doesn't lead to FB, it leads to Hubs relating to FB. I've had this done to me before so I know smile

I think as long as you aren't doing so prolifically that Facebook wouldn't suspend your account.  When you make a friend request you can send a message with that request to let that person know why you are sending it.  The suspensions are primarily to prevent spammers smile

Many people don't know that when they receive a friend request, opt not to accept it and click "I don't know this person" as the reason, it could cause someone to have their account suspended. This has happened to well-intentioned non-spammers.

I knew it could lead to a suspended account for me -- now can it lead to a suspended account for everyone else? Lots of folks know my brother and want to befriend me in order to befriend him. I probably know one of every 50 of those folks and if indeed I do know them personally, I accept. If I don't I decline as it would take up all my time answering folks for my Bro. I'm not a huge afficianado of Facebook anyway -- just check in when time permits. Excellent question!

Angela, it would be just for the person sending the friend request. I don't get very many requests. I did awhile back, so it goes in spurts. As Christin S said, it's sometimes spammers doing this.
