What programming languages are in the most demand right now?

I am a fast learner and have decided a programming job would be easier to find than a librarian position.  I already have programming experience, but need to learn the new languages to bring my skills up to date.  Hubby has suggested JAVA, since his colleagues are always looking for someone who knows JAVA.  I already know some HTML and have dabbled in PHP and MySQL.

If you want to learn the latest and the greatest, many languages such as JAVA and Pearl are giving way to newer languages such as Python and Ruby. From experience they are all very similar, and by spending time in one you are setting yourself up to be successful in others. MySQL has proven very difficult for me though, cause for some reason databases don't suit my eye. lol. Good luck in your endeavors, I wish you luck.

My plan is to learn a language well enough to put it on my resume.  I know once I start working anywhere I can quickly learn any other languages/systems needed.  Thanks for your input!

It is Java, C, C# and C++. But the most important one is Javascript if you are planning to create application for the web browser.

As of my knowledge cutoff date in 2021, some of the most in-demand programming languages were:

JavaScript: This language is widely used for web development and is also increasingly being used in server-side and desktop application development. It's also the language of choice for many popular front-end frameworks like React and Angular.

Python: Python is a versatile language that's used for everything from web like                                development to data analysis and machine learning. Its popularity has skyrocketed in recent years, thanks in part to the popularity of data science and AI.

Java: Java is a classic language that's still widely used today, particularly for server-side development. It's also used in Android app development.

C#: C# is a language developed by Microsoft that's used primarily for developing Windows applications and games.

Kotlin: Kotlin is a relatively new language that's gained a lot of popularity in recent years, particularly for Android app development. It's seen as a more modern and efficient replacement for Java.

However, the demand for programming languages is constantly evolving, so it's important to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the industry.
