Is technology becoming too 'intelligent'?

I was just wondering what your opinions were on 'intelligent' technology. Obviously I'm not talking about sentience here, but rather just about things such as smart phones and, well, I'm sure you could name a lot more but I won't here. I just sent an e-mail to my Dad and because I included the word 'attachments' but actually hadn't attached any documents, Hotmail stopped me before I sent it and asked whether I'd meant to attach something. I can't decide whether that's good and helpful, or whether it's a bit weird for a machine to question a person about their actions?

I agree with you, but I think it's impossible for technology to be perfect? It can't really think, after all. Thanks for answering!

It is a scary thought! Do you watch The Big Bang Theory? There's this funny moment when Sheldon says he doesn't like ATMs as he thinks they will lead the robot uprising.

Perhaps we're going too fast in the wrong areas? Maybe there should be more people working on cures for diseases and less on the iPhone 5? Thanks for commenting!
