No. Not at least the latest models. I stay a generation or two behind, and lately have been working with Android phones. I have even written a hub about how now is the time to switch to Android vs iPhone. I think Android has come of age and there are several phones that were introduced last year that work just fine. I would suggest a phone that has at least Honeycomb or better for its operating system, however. Ice Cream or Jelly Bean would be even better, because they have better battery management.
Whether you choose an iPhone, vs Windows phone, vs Android, it all depends on how it integrates and makes you life easier. I can see reasons for people to choose different styles, and no choice is really wrong. I personally have found the Apple closed ecosystem a bit stifling and am enjoying the flexibility of Android.
