Do you prefer a phone contract plan or one that is prepaid monthly?

We are looking for the best phone plans without contracts. There are some attractive ones out there, but there is a buy out price if you break it within the two year plan. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one they prefer and why?

Thanks Aniket, it does make sense. I really don't know how many minutes I would need yet.

I never heard of this, where they disconnect the phone. That's not a good deal I'd say. Something else to consider.

I've never heard of Cricket. AT&T has a good $20 plus taxes plan per month, but they want you to sign a two year contract. Like you I don't have a smart phone but want an easy no fills package. Thanks for the info.
