Can I replace a usb (male) with a micro usb (male), to avoid an adapter cable?

I have a four (4) port usb hub. Four (4) usb female connections, one (1) usb male. I want to avoid a micro usb male to standard usb female cord to connect this hub to a raspberry Pi zero which has a micro usb female connection on the board. To do this, I'm going to solder a micro usb male to the usb hub, where the standard usb male was originally attached, so I could plug the hub directly into the raspberry. Can I do this, or is an adapter cord a must? Side note: my micro usb cord has a color combo of (red, white, blue, light green)
