Be more green - Is it better to through away dirty paper products or flush them?
IE such as tissue paper you've blown your nose on and paper towels you've had to dry your hands on or dry a spill bc you couldn't find a hand towel.
Is this a trick question? Is this a technique I've heard of to get people to click and view by using a wrong spelling?
Do you mean to 'throw' away paper products or flush them?
The two ways of disposal incur recycling process of 1) water processing and clogging/overloading of sewage systems -- answer -- not a good solution and 2) slower deterioration by sending and dumping into landfill stations where it may be burned or slowly rot back into the earth -- better solution.
Most paper products these days that are used in tissues and toilet paper will break down quickly in septic systems or sewage systems. Flushing them typically will result in less waste that goes to landfills and reduce the space taken in your trash bags and garbage cans. Flushing of paper products that are meant to be flushed and that are biodegradable is the best way to dispose of them
When I was living in an apartment building they sent out a notice to all residents to only put toilet paper in the toilet. Apparently there are quite a few items that are said to be biodegradable, that are listed as flushable, but in reality it depends on your area and your waste disposal or treatment plants. They have lift stations and anything that cannot be disolved has to be removed and treated. Paper Towels, Napkins and anything thicker than toilet paper can mess these places up.
While a company gives us flushable toilet brushes, some older systems may not be ready for them. Contact your water and sewage or waste disposal providers to ask what you should and should not flush.
