When using my speech recognition software, I use the headset that comes with the Dragon Naturally Speaking software. It seems reasonable to expect since they created the software, their own or approved headset would be the best to use. I have not had any problems with it so I have found no need to research other brands.
The key for getting the best results for the headset you use is placement consistency. It should be between 1.5 and 2 inches away from your mouth and it should be in the same position you used for training every time you use it. This is critical for ensuring maximum recognition. A different position means the sound of your voice changes and you may find more errors.
If you are planning to buy a speech recognition software, just check to ensure that a headset is included. There are options now to buy the software with bluetooth headsets as well.
