Csrss.exe stands for the Microsoft Client/Server Runtime Server Subsystem. This is a critical process handling most of the graphical user interactions in Windows. It is responsible for creating console windows and managing threads. At any given time, only one copy of csrss.exe should be running in your system. If it is more than one, most likely the other could be a spyware, virus, worm, or trojan. You can check its legitimacy with Security Task Manager. The legitimate file should be located in the System32 folder with file size of less than 1MB.
A registry cleaner helps in identifying errors associated to csrss.exe. It will scan the whole system for any invalid, obsolete, and corrupted entries. Apart from repairing the csrss.exe error, one should always run a scan and clean the Windows registry regularly as it contains loads of data slowing your computer's applications down. Basically, this registry is a database which stores all the information required for the computer to run. Whenever a file is created, a record is logged in the registry. Over time, these entries are building up that is why it is important to always run a registry cleaner to delete those useless entries.
It is not recommended to do a manual scan to check for csrss.exe related errors. The file itself is a crucial Windows file that must be running at all times. Terminating or disabling it will hinder the computer’s stability and security. You will only need a registry cleaner to automatically check for file errors and shut off those unnecessary programs that are just slowing the system. Only then can you can truly optimize the performance of your PC.
